Liz has had a passion for Art and Design for many years from drawing in her childhood to pursuing interior decorating and home design in her adult years. She designed and had 3 homes built on the shores of beautiful Long Lake in Sudbury. Her interest in design led to a 3 year hiatus from her teaching career to pursue a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture, which has led to a 'post retirement from teaching' freelance career in residential landscape design and school regreening projects in addition to pursuing her art work. Currently in her art she is exploring mixed media and abstractions in acrylic and found objects with a particular interest in the use of nature's colour palette and textures. Watercolour, pen and ink drawing and collage are still of interest and will be continued as part of her range of art activities.
Liz became more serious about her artwork when she retired from teaching in 2000 and became very active with the Sudbury Art Club of which she is currently president. Through the club she completed many workshops with several well known artists including Ivan Wheale, Jack Reid, Bob Paterson, Linda Finn, Vivian Ripley, Laura Landers, Richard Edwards and Brian Atyeo…………….all of these have been an inspiration for her work.
She has had works selected for the Northern Ontario Art Association juried exhibitions 4 years in a row (2002-05) as well as the popular LaCloche Art Show in 2005 and 2006.
